Shadow of the Colossus - 8th Colossus ii two
Video - Battle with Kuromori
The colossus is initially unaware of the player; use this time to become familiar with the arena. In that location are many staircases connecting its many tiers; go to the highest one. Once there, equip the bow and whistle to get the colossus' attending. Once washed, quickly run to the other side of the arena while the colossus climbs upward the walls. Its legs look suspicious, similar the bottom of Quadratus' hooves. Shoot whatever of them with an arrow and the colossus will recoil that leg from the wall. Shoot any other leg and the colossus will fall to the lesser of the arena, exposing its two weakspots on its ventral side. The higher the colossus was when information technology fell, the longer it will have to correct itself. If any office of this does not go co-ordinate to plan, lookout man out, equally this colossus carries a particularly vicious assault: It tin launch electrical projectiles that will leave a cloud of poison gas on touch, rapidly draining Wander's health as long as he remains in the impact radius. Get out of sight and recover, and when ready, become support to the peak of the loonshit and get its attention again.

Weakspots
| Location | Per centum of health | |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Hard | |
| On its belly, between its front legs | 50% | l% |
| On its belly, between its back legs | 50% | fifty% |
| On each ankle (four) | Makes information technology lose its grip | |
Tips and tricks
- If one has difficulty aiming for the legs to brand the colossus fall, and then aiming for the belly is an alternative to consider. 3 shots are required to brand this work instead of the usual 2.
- Information technology is also possible for Wander to climb to the topmost layer, become its attending, then become downwards a few layers and shoot at its legs. That manner, it gets stunned for a long fourth dimension and the actor loses little health.
- After shooting Kuromori down and it's lying on its back, one can jump from any layer and concord the grab button to latch onto its belly. If done correctly, it allows Wander to get to it rapidly with no damage taken.
- Some other style to save wellness is to shoot Kuromori's legs and while jumping downwardly, take hold of onto the lowest ridge sticking out of the wall. Letting go from here slows Wander enough so that he takes most no impairment.
- While Kuromori is "charging" its attack, Wander can use his bow to hitting its head. This makes Kuromori temporarily shake it around, apparently disoriented, which causes it to shoot its projectiles randomly and not direct towards Wander. If timed correctly, this can be very useful if running abroad is not an pick. Using the Harpoon of Thunder on Hard Mode will increase the fourth dimension Kuromori shakes its head, thus making it more effective than using the bow.
Attacks
| Assail | Builds | Damage | Description | Demonstration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quick Breath | E3 Demo | 0.5+ (Gas) 30 (Direct hit) | In the E3 Demo, if Wander is adjacent to the colossus' face up, it will spit at the footing quickly with no charge time - spreading gas and making it extremely dangerous to exist close to it. | |
Music
Trivia
- Kuromori is the offset of the 4 colossi that uses a ranged assail. Its attack amongst these four, however, is unique in that it is the simply long-range attacker whose projectiles get out a cloud of damaging gas that lingers for quite some time. This gas covers a fairly large expanse and can bleed Wander'due south health quickly if he remains in information technology for long.
- Kuromori is the merely colossus capable of scaling walls during its fight.
- Kuromori is the third-smallest colossus afterwards Celosia and Cenobia. The ii same pieces of music, "Liberated Guardian" and "A Despair Filled Goodbye", play whilst fighting all three colossi.
- Many people have found a style to jump onto Kuromori'south belly while it'southward climbing upward. This is non recommended, however, as it is not only hard to perform but very glitchy if Wander holds on as well long (such every bit existence launched miles into the air or being turned invisible with clipping).
- Kuromori shares some similarities with the colossus that immediately follows it: Basaran. Both Kuromori and Basaran, while beingness 2 of the seven quadrupedal colossi, are the only two whose legs extend out to the sides of the their bodies rather than directly downwards, as is the case with all the other quadrupeds. This gives them both a distinctly lizard-similar gait and makes them announced more reptilian. Both accept to be attacked around the legs in guild to tip them over to gain access to their weakpoint sigils, both utilize long range projectile attacks, and each are viewed as being highly ambitious. Finally, both Kuromori and Basaran have heavily-armored and ridged backs.
- Kuromori makes a lot of hissing and seething bellows while information technology'due south fighting.
- Out of all sixteen colossi, Kuromori has the shortest death sequence of all, roughly merely seven seconds long.
- From the location in which it is fought, Kuromori is one of three colossi that cannot see the pillars of light that the fallen bodies of other colossi emit, with the other 2 being Barba and Dirge.
- The fight with Kuromori is the just boxing wherein Wander volition cover his face up. When Wander is in the poisonous gas that Kuromori fires, he puts his arm over his mouth.
- The copse exterior of Kuromori's lair have the same texture as some colossi's skin, specially Barba'due south; both are bluish with dark spots.
- When Kuromori walks, information technology leaves burn-like marks into the ground.
- In the PS4 Remaster, there is a trophy that tin can exist obtained for killing Kuromori earlier it tin can flip dorsum on its feet for the start time.
- Dormin'southward introduction line for Kuromori reads as "A tail trapped within a pail deep within a forest". Nonetheless Kuromori's lair in the last game is not actually located virtually any forests, making Dormin's line curious.
- A particular folio from the artbook showing three designs for gecko colossi states that 3 types of 8th colossus existed at one signal, that all of them are shown in information technology, and that all three had different strategies and weakpoint locations. This may possibly suggest that these aren't just different designs for Kuromori, but actually 3 unlike gecko colossi; such as Yamori A, another colossus like to Kuromori that existed in the past.
- In the E3 Demo, Kuromori's model was a scrap unlike. Its textures were brighter and its tail was similar in shape to Yamori A's. Gameplay-wise, it was much faster and its breath attack blowed Wander away dealing damage, in addition to information technology beingness poisonous. The effect of the jiff attack is also unlike, being colored blue. At this signal however, the animation of Wander covering his face up wasn't implemented however, making it harder to tell which spots are dangerous if the actor is non circumspect enough of their health bar. If Wander stands in front of it, it will launch a unmarried breath ball with no charging time, making it more dangerous being shut to information technology.
- Kuromori'south model is modified in-game to exist 80% smaller than its original size. It used to be as large as Basaran.
- Kuromori's skeleton includes some basic that do not serve any purpose and don't fit its current trunk, such as having a os for a quaternary toe behind each paw and several bones on height of information technology named "UROKO (scale)", resembling the parts on acme of its early on design from the artbook.

An early blueprint sketch for the 8th colossus. Its design resembles the early screenshot from the artbook. The lower part of its cervix is covered in fur and its meridian office seems to exist covered in some type of grass or moss.
Some other early on design sketch for the 8th colossus. Its breadbasket is covered in fur and its mouth resembles that of its final version.

Another design sketch for a gecko colossus resembling an axolotl. The just apparent fur on it seems to be on its head and neck, maybe also on its back. Its mouth doesn't announced to exist able to launch projectiles. In that location is a possibility that this is a sketch for Yamori A.
